Start Your Off Shift Right - a process group for you!
Coming off shift? Still have work on your mind - well - of course you do! Just like being on shift - you promise to do things to take care of you.You work hard caring for the emotional, physical and spiritual safety of others. You manage group dynamics and logistics 24/7. You serve as the sounding board for students who are processing their issues and sharing their stories for the first time. When the end of your shift comes – there is rarely enough time to process the week as you try to get out the door. This is emotionally draining for many and can lead to you negative coping strategies or needing to manage this difficulty on your off-shift.
As a Wilderness Therapist (7 years)– I always wanted more time to check in with my staff to understand where THEY were as they headed home for the week. As field staff and therapists – obviously the primary concern is the student – but please know – as a clinician – I observed the burdens taken home by the instructors. There simply was not enough time to process. Let this group be your opportunity to lighten the load in a healthy and safe environment.
Your time off should be free of stress – not spent trying to process the week, or having dreams about your students – or dreading returning to that same group. So - join me and your co-workers for a process group for wilderness professionals in the Asheville Area who need a safe space to start their off-shift without the burdens of the week before!
